Nieuw Zeeland het nieuwe Bhutan?-Nieuw Zeelandse PM neemt aanbevelingen uit The Origens of Happiness over
Aanjagers van het 'brede welvaart'-denken waren tot voor kort teruggeworpen op Bhutan als enige land ter wereld dat het beleid stuurt op Bruto Nationaal Geluk. Maar goed Bhutan is toch een soort van weinig democratisch en arm en staat mede daarom op een zuinige 95e plaats in het World Happiness Report 2019 (met NL gestegen van 6 naar plaats 5 (belangrijker: met een hogere score dan vorig jaar) en Finland net als vorig jaar op 1). In Nieuw Zeeland - nu nog op plaats 8 (net als vorig jaar) - hebben ze mijn eerdere blog gelezen :-) en heeft de toch al zo inspirerende Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern er voor gekozen vol op Bruto Nationaal Geluk in te zetten en dat ook nog eens door expliciet aan de goede knop te draaien. In de Financial Times geeft ze namelijk aan prioriteit te geven aan de geestelijke gezondheid van alle Nieuwe Zeelanders met speciale aandacht voor mensen onder de 24. En dat is natuurlijk ook precies wat aanbevolen wordt in The Origins of Happiness. Wat kan evidence-based policy toch een feest zijn!
